With football season around the corner, many athletes will be in training camp trying to get ready. Conditioning for the season is extremely important in order to perform the way you want. A pre-season training program is exactly what you need in order to get your body to the proper conditioning that you’ll need for the season, and once the season does hit, you will improve even more.

Before beginning any pre-season training or conditioning program, it is important that you have a set of goals in mind. This way, you can actively work towards those goals and it will keep you on the right track for your training. Some goals would be to improve endurance, strength, balance, agility and explosiveness; these are all essential to becoming successful when playing football. Pre-season conditioning is important because a lot of the drills that you will be doing translate directly to the football field as well as help you to improve on all of the goals that you are aiming to achieve. One of the best types of exercise principles to focus on would be high intensity interval training. This will allow the athletes to focus on the exact explosiveness while also gaining the proper cardiovascular endurance that they need. Strength training is also a very integral part of the training because this will allow the athlete to get as strong as they can before the season, which will help make playing easier. The pre-season training program should be designed to have the athlete peak at the right time before the season. This way, they are in their best shape for the whole entire season.

Off-season and pre-season training for conditioning and strength is paramount in order to achieve the goals you want throughout the season. No matter what sport, whether it be football or something else, having the proper endurance before the season starts is the only way to ensure that you will be successful.
