We all know that runners of all people get excited when spring time rolls around! The nice weather is motivation to lace up your sneakers and hit the streets. When you’re feeling ready to put your sneakers to the pavement, make sure you consider the spring running trends. Some may not even realize that running trends exist, but they do, and they’re both helpful and trendy.

First off, have a lightweight, waterproof jacket. While the spring provides us with great weather, it also provides us with rain. Having a waterproof jacket will protect you from the rain while running, and making sure it’s lightweight is even better! The light weight of the jacket will prevent you from feeling extra tired and weighed down. Want to add an additional trend into your jacket? Get one that’s a bright color! Bright colored exercise clothing is still very trendy in 2015!

Another trend is to wear two layers of shirts, a base layer and a mid layer. During the spring, it’s still possible to have some chilly mornings. By wearing two layers you are preparing yourself for the cold start. You may think it’s okay to go outside in a t-shirt because it’s going to warm up soon, but it’s best to stick with the two layers. Your muscles contract better when it’s warmer. Once you begin to feel the heat of the morning sun, you can then take off that top layer. This is to help regulate your body temperature. Your body will thank you.

Finally, the shoes. Running on the pavement is different from running inside on the treadmill. It’s best to make sure you have the proper shoes for running outside. Your shoes will play a role in how successful your running is. Going to a store that has staff that is educated about running shoes can be very helpful. This is because there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration, the shape of your feet, weight, activity level, and going up one half size for wiggle room. All of these aspects are important when choosing a running shoe.

Before hitting the pavement this spring, make sure you’re ready to go with your lightweight, waterproof jacket, trendy bright colors, two layers of shirts, and a pair of proper running shoes. Once you have these important items, get running and enjoy the spring air!
