It’s Halloween time and you’veimages picked out the greatest pumpkin from the patch and are excited to start carving! But pumpkin carver be aware, the most common Halloween related injuries are from making jack o lanterns! You want to have the best most creative pumpkin on the block, however make sure you follow these quick and easy safety tips to have the best pumpkin carving experience, and the best jack o lantern on the block! Make sure that children are always being supervised. Children should avoid the usage of sharp objects.

Knife and Safety Tips:

1)   Use a small serrated blade instead of a sharp chef’s knife. A serrated blade will cut through much more easily through the pumpkin than a super sharp knife, and is a lot more safe!

2)   Make sure that the blade is always pointing away from you when you are carving!

3)   Saw instead of slicing the knife. Guiding the knife in a slow saw like motion avoids slippage and chance of injury.

4)   Before taking the top off the pumpkin make sure it is fully carved! This way you won’t accidentally stick your finger in while carving!
